Head
Muscles and bones
The head contains the brain, the main sense organs and the upper portions of the respiratory and digestive tracts.
The skull comprises the neurocranium, which encloses the brain, and the viscerocranium, which shapes the face; the mandible is its only mobile bone. The head is supplied by the carotid arteries, drained by the jugular veins and innervated by the twelve cranial nerves.
