The external, middle and inner ear within the temporal bone, with the ossicles, cochlea and vestibulocochlear nerve.

The tympanic membrane separates the external acoustic meatus from the tympanic cavity, where the malleus, incus and stapes transmit vibrations to the oval window. The inner ear, within the petrous part of the temporal bone, contains the cochlea for hearing and the vestibule and semicircular canals for balance, both innervated by the vestibulocochlear nerve (CN VIII).
