Lower limb
Muscles and bones
The lower limb extends from the hip to the toes and is adapted for weight bearing and locomotion.
Its skeleton comprises the hip bone, femur, patella, tibia, fibula and the bones of the foot, joined by strong ligaments. It is supplied by the femoral artery and its branches and innervated by the lumbar and sacral plexuses, including the femoral and sciatic nerves.
