The arterial system of the trunk, from the aortic arch to the thoracic and abdominal aorta and its branches.
The aortic arch gives rise to the brachiocephalic trunk, the left common carotid and the left subclavian arteries. The descending aorta gives off intercostal arteries in the thorax and, in the abdomen, the coeliac trunk, the superior and inferior mesenteric arteries and the renal arteries.
